Job Description:
Assesses inpatient needs and plans, organizes, performs and evaluates nursing activities to meet those needs. Coordinates patient care and interaction of staff. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specified age range of their assigned nursing unit.Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System.Reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Demonstrated good organizational skills and effective communication skills. Demonstrated excellent clinical nursing skills, knowledge, judgment and leadership in an independent environment. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in team environment. Must be confident, personable, self-motivated and function with tact and poise in stressful situations. Must be capable of making rapid and clinically accurate decisions and possessing innovation under adverse conditions.Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.Demonstrated ability to interact professionally on all levels within and outside the organization.
Graduation from an approved school of nursing required. Requires RN currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of Pennsylvania. BLS certification preferred. Duration of on-the-job training to become familiar with job duties varies by individual unit.
