Job Description:
Plans, directs, and administers the School of Nurse Anesthesia in collaboration with the Chairperson, Department of Nursing at Bloomsburg University of PA.
Coordinates all academic and clinical activities for students enrolled in the Program and ensures that the Program is in full compliance with the "Standards for Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs" of the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Reports to the Divisional Chief Nurse Anesthetist, Anesthesiology Service Line.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, directs, and administers a fully accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program in collaboration with the Department of Nursing at Bloomsburg University of PA.
Plans and designs the curriculum based on the accreditation standards of the Council on Accreditation.
Plans a budget in conjunction with the Administrative Operations Director, Anesthesiology Service Line.
Develops, maintains, and updates a Master Plan that includes the accreditation, regulatory, instructional, and budgetary components of the total program.
Plans all instructional activities of the program to include classroom and clinical instruction by qualified faculty.
Develops and maintains an evaluation process that includes students and faculty.
Performs all duties related to recruitment, application, interview, acceptance, and counseling activities. This may include attendance at job fairs, educational seminars, or any other activities related to this duty.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures that are consistent with the overall mission statement of the program and that are in compliance with accreditation standards and/or other regulatory bodies.
Ensures consistency and compliance with policies and procedures established within the Division/Service Line and the mission statement of the Health System.
Prepares, evaluates, and reviews program documents including catalog, application forms, recruitment brochures, website, master class schedule, course outlines, evaluation forms.
Counsels and assists students as needed.
Evaluates student performance based on pre-determined educational objectives.
Maintains student records.
Serves on established program committees.
Attends all national meetings related to job function.
Maintains clinical competency skills.
Performs other duties as required or assigned by emergency or other operational reasons for which the employee is qualified to perform.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrates clinical competence as a CRNA.
Demonstrates interpersonal leadership and management skills.
Demonstrates excellent administrative and instructional skills.
Demonstrates computer skills as required to support job performance.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Current Pennsylvania RN licensure required. Current AANA Recertification required. Current CRNA clinical privileges required. Minimum five years experience as a practicing CRNA required. Previous educational administrative experience required. This may include prior experience as a Program Director or a minimum of three to five years experience as an Assistant Program Director. Academic credentials, appropriate to the job, required. Masters degree in Nursing required. May also include an appropriate doctoral degree or evidence of intent to complete this requirement within five years from the date of hire.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in an office and clinical or environment. Must be willing to travel to support all aspects of the job.
