Are you are looking to join a team of Nurse Practitioners in a pre-surgical setting - part of our Anesthesiology Division where state of the art diagnostic and interventional therapies are evidenced by our practice? If you are an experienced, self-motivated, energetic midlevel provider, dedicated to patient care, we are interested in you!
The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will have a strong desire to work with the pre-surgical patients and their families, demonstrated concern for the health and well-being of others, superior written and oral communication skills and the ability to work both as a team member and independently.
At Geisinger, Clinical Anesthesia includes Anesthesiologists with the breadth and depth of sub-specialty experience needed to provide complete anesthesia service for the full range of surgical and obstetrical procedures. The physicians include specialists in pediatric obstetric, cardiovascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, and outpatient anesthesia, as well as acute and chronic pain management.

This Nurse Practitioner, in collaboration with the Anesthesiologists and Surgeons:
¨ Performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the Anesthesiologists, Surgeons and CRNAs to extend their services in the rendering of quality surgical/medical care.
¨ Assesses the physical status of patients presenting for surgery by means of interview, health history and physical examination, diagnostic testing, triage, telephone communication and patient education.
¨ Assists in gathering and interpreting patient data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of care.
¨ Acts as a patient advocate in the medical care system, serving as confidant, advisor and liaison between patients and physicians.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
¨ Review all patient records including prior surgeries and anesthesia.
¨ Performs and records H&P's.
¨ Computer literacy including electronic medical record documentation.
¨ Clearly discriminates between normal and abnormal findings when evaluating patient profile.
¨ Communicates to patients and family members information regarding the surgical procedure/pre-and post-operative care.
Requires a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Prefer candidates certified to work with all patient population age groups.
Multi-lingual candidates preferred.
